Targeting Estrogen Dominance with Broc Shot

Apr 16, 2024

Estrogen dominance— estrogen levels that are too high, either alone or in relation to progesterone— is a common cause of hormone-driven complaints for women over 35. Although estrogen supports optimal health from brain function to fertility, healthy weight distribution, muscle mass, and bone density, it’s very possible to have too much of a good thing. The resulting symptoms range from disruptive (including heavy periods, breast and ovarian cysts, PMS, fibroids, bloating, cellulite, headaches and mood swings) to dangerous (estrogen-fueled cancers). Feeling better begins with ensuring that your metabolized estrogen is removed efficiently.

SULFORAPHANE SUPPORTS LIVER DETOXIFICATION

One of the most important and effective ways to remove metabolized estrogen, reducing elevated levels over time, is to support liver detoxification. The liver breaks down metabolized estrogens and prepares them to be removed from the body in a multi-phase process. Broc Shot’s whole broccoli sprout powder addresses this need by delivering a potent dose of the key liver-detox-supporting compound sulforaphane. Where other supplements target a single aspect of liver detoxification, sulforaphane fully supports liver detoxification pathways by turning on Phase I enzymes and raising Phase II enzyme levels. The result is improved ability to both break down and remove metabolized estrogens, preventing them from being reabsorbed and reaching elevated levels. Broc Shot offers a 15 mg active and bioavailable  dose of sulforaphane equal to that of 10 pounds of raw broccoli.

MORE SULFORAPHANE BENEFITS

Research also shows that supplementing with sulforaphane, a powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant, has direct benefits for breast and hormone health that include a decrease in premenopausal breast cancer risk and increased activity of detoxification enzymes in the mammary glands. The active sulforaphane in Broc Shot also supports a healthy gut microbiome, improving yet another of the most critical pathways for estrogen removal. Additionally, as sulforaphane supports liver detoxification it targets more than just estrogen dominance by enabling the detoxification of other toxic compounds that may be interfering with estrogen removal.

For an additional layer of support, the commonly-used supplements DIM (diindolylmethane) and calcium d-glucarate may be added to an estrogen-lowering protocol. However, it’s important to note that neither of these compounds alone adequately addresses the root cause of elevated estrogen. DIM improves Phase I liver detoxification, while calcium d-glucarate supports Phase II detox and binds to toxins. Although DIM, calcium d-glucarate, and sulforaphane can be taken together to comprehensively address estrogen dominance, only sulforaphane fully supports liver detoxification when taken alone.
