WHAT IS
BROC SHOT?

Commitment to innovation

The Broc Shot team is dedicated to delivering the best source of natural sulforaphane to help you and your family better protect your health in this modern toxic world. This means when we find a better way – we do it.

The evolution: Sprout to seed

Our focus has been, and will continue to be, keeping everything that our customers loved: potent natural sulforaphane and countless benefits while innovating to ensure that we always maintain consistency in natural sulforaphane.

broccoli seeds vs sprouts

Sprouts require more cultivation and processing and can have more degradation of sulforaphane during milling and drying.  Our broccoli seeds have 30x more glucoraphanin than 3-5 day old sprouts while also containing the active enzyme myrosinase.  This means more consistent sulforaphane yield from batch to batch so customers can count on the benefits consistently.  And an additional byproduct of using the seed is a milder flavor than with sprouts.

Sulforaphane content

Each serving of Broc Shot typically contains between 15mg and 16mg of sulforaphane, however we guarantee a minimum of 12mg in every serving.

Neither sprouts nor seeds have a higher sulforaphane yield just by the nature of their plant stage.  There are two key factors involved in sulforaphane yield including starting level of glucoraphanin in the seed (ours have 30x the level of sprouts) growth timing and processing.  Sprouts require more cultivation and processing and can have more degradation of sulforaphane during milling and drying.  We’ve worked with sprouts for a long time and nearly 30% of batches don’t meet our standard sulforaphane yield and cannot be put into our product.  This creates waste and is simply not sustainable. We are committed to offering the highest quality of sulforaphane to our customers and want to ensure they never feel disappointed by its availability. We’ve navigated this for years and have found more consistent, high quality yield in our new seed cultivation method.

Bioavailability

Bioavailability from seed and sprout can be equal as it is a measure that is relevant to the final powder (not the source) at time of ingestion.  Bioavailability of our broccoli seed powder at the time it is mixed with water and consumed is key - and we excel here.

While most batches are 15mg-16mg of sulforaphane, we guarantee no less than 12mg is delivered in each dose of our final powder that one would consume.   The thing that we love most about sulforaphane, specifically our natural source, is it’s an overt “behaving” compound - you can see and feel it working.  Our innovative formula is no different, in fact it’s better.

In relation to bioavailability, many factors affect bioavailability and absorption which can vary from person to person including diet, other supplements or medicines, rate of gastric emptying and more.  It has been well documented that humans more readily absorb liquid vitamins than other sources such as pills. This is because liquid vitamins dissolve and distribute more rapidly, providing higher potency and absorption rate.  Pills dissolve at different rates and often travel through the digestive system as they are dissolving.  And this is one of the reasons why Broc Shot is so effective. When you activate it with water and take it within 15 mins, it is readily available in your system and gets to work swiftly.

Digestibility

In our consumer tests, our innovative powder was not only milder in taste but was found to be easily digested and 92% of users found it was gentler on the stomach.

The Anti nutrient Myth

Historically, many healthcare providers recommended avoiding cruciferous vegetables for thyroid conditions based on older data and limited insights on volume of cruciferous vegetables needed to have a goitrogen effect. Recent insights suggest that the quantity needed to potentially impact iodine levels is more significant than a human would typically consume. Dr. Rhonda Patrick addresses these concerns and provides updated insights on this topic in her podcast: https://www.foundmyfitness.com/episodes/sulforaphane-and-isothiocyanate-goitrogen-concerns-rhonda-patrick# “Long-term studies in iodine-deficient or hypothyroid animals showed no ill effects with high dose sulforaphane supplementation”.

Regarding volume in Broc Shot, the volume of seeds we use to make our 1g serving is equivalent to our sprouts volume, and nowhere near a volume that is known to present goitrogenic properties.  That said, one with concerns about iodine or thyroid issues should always consult a healthcare practitioner.

THE SOURCE: Natural not stabilized

Natural Sulforaphane is an enzymatic reaction between two compounds in broccoli, glucoraphanin and myrosinase.  Without both, there is little to no sulforaphane.

Our formula is 95% broccoli seed powder with 5% horseradish powder to offer full spectrum sulforaphane yield.

formula explained

Myrosinase is a very delicate and unstable enzyme that is easily damaged, hence why cooking broccoli or freeze-drying it can destroy the enzyme so easily.  While our broccoli seed powder has both glucoraphanin and myrosinase, we add additional myrosinase source from horseradish root powder to give full-spectrum coverage to minimize any possible degradation of the enzyme.  This helps ensure a consistent, high yield of natural sulforaphane in every dose while avoiding using chemicals and stabilized sulforaphane.

Eucric acid Free

Broc Shot does not contain erucic acid.  Our cultivating method removes all of the oil and fatty acids via gentle CO2 extraction.  CO2 is a method used to remove oils from plants without the use of chemical solvents.  CO2 acts as both a liquid and a gas, allowing it to effectively extract oils and other compounds from plant material.   Our powder is left with glucoraphanin and myrosinase intact.
