How Broc Shot Works

Our modern toxic world can overwhelm the body's defense systems, accelerating cellular aging and dysfunction.

Broc Shot changes this equation. Its daily dose of natural sulforaphane powerfully activates the NRF2 pathway, efficiently triggering the expression of over 200 cytoprotective genes, providing foundational protection for three key pillars of health:

The body’s efficient detoxification system is made up of key main detoxification organs: the liver and kidneys, as well as the lymphatic system, digestive tract, skin, and lungs. These detoxification systems weren’t built to withstand this modern toxic world, where 80,000 toxic chemicals are approved for use in the US. Sulforaphane is one of the best-known detoxifiers, which is why we believe every human should take it—every day.

Sulforaphane offers a process called Phase II detoxification. When toxic chemicals enter the body, its detoxification system works to remove them. If they are not removed, Phase II detoxification processes these toxic chemicals again to help prevent them from reaching our cells and causing damage.

"Sulforaphane is a potent inducer of phase II detoxification enzymes, which are essential for the body's defense against carcinogens and other harmful compounds. These enzymes enhance the elimination of these toxic substances from the body."
– Dr. Jed Fahey, Sc.D., Nutritional Biochemist, Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine

The gut plays a key role in proper immune, cognitive, and metabolic function. Sulforaphane is clinically demonstrated to normalize gut microflora (feeding your gut bacteria) as it enhances the gut barrier (helping to prevent leaky gut). Sulforaphane’s ability to reduce inflammation in the gastrointestinal tract leads to healthier digestion, better nutrient absorption, reduced bloating, and enables the restoration of a healthy gut lining and microbiome.

Within the first days of consistent use, these important changes can contribute to improved regularity, digestive improvements, better sleep quality and boosted energy.

Sulforaphane addresses inflammation by boosting the body's natural defenses, blocking signals that cause inflammation, reducing inflammatory chemicals, helping detoxify our bodies, and improving gut health.

Boosting the Body's Defense System:

Sulforaphane functions as an indirect antioxidant. Instead of neutralizing free radicals directly, it activates a protein called NRF2, which turns on more than 200 protective genes involved in detoxification, antioxidant defense, and cellular repair. When NRF2 is activated, cells produce more antioxidants, which improves the body’s ability to neutralize reactive oxygen species (ROS) and reduce oxidative stress: key triggers for inflammation.

Blocking Inflammatory Signals:

The protein complex called NF-κB tells the body to produce substances that cause inflammation. Sulforaphane can block this protein to reduce the issuing of inflammatory signals in the body.

Lowering Inflammatory Chemicals:

Inflammation is partly driven by chemicals such as interleukin-6 (IL-6) and tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α). Sulforaphane helps reduce the levels of these chemicals in the body.

Helping the Body Get Rid of Toxic Chemicals:

Sulforaphane boosts the activity of enzymes that help detoxify the body. By getting rid of harmful substances, sulforaphane reduces triggers of inflammation.

Improving Gut Health:

A healthy gut helps control inflammation in the body. Sulforaphane promotes the growth of good bacteria in the gut and reduces gut inflammation.

Sulforaphane is a well-studied phytochemical with demonstrated potential in cancer prevention and adjunctive therapy. Its anticancer potential is largely mediated through activation of the NRF2 pathway, which induces over 200 protective genes. This includes upregulation of detoxification enzymes (e.g., glutathione S-transferase, quinone reductase), enhancement of antioxidant defenses, and modulation of gene expression linked to cancer cell apoptosis. Sulforaphane also suppresses NF-κB signaling to lower pro-inflammatory mediators. These overlapping mechanisms make sulforaphane a unique tool for supporting the body against several hallmarks of cancer development.

Sulforaphane may play a supportive role in autoimmune and inflammatory conditions through several mechanisms. By activating NRF2, it enhances antioxidant and cytoprotective defenses, while simultaneously downregulating NF-κB to reduce pro-inflammatory cytokine production. Preclinical studies also show that sulforaphane modulates dendritic cell signaling (IL-12 and IL-23), helping to temper overactive Th1 and Th17 responses. Collectively, these effects target oxidative stress, chronic inflammation, and dysregulated immune signaling which are core features of many autoimmune diseases.

Sulforaphane influences key pathways relevant to metabolism, weight management, and muscle development. Studies show it improves leptin sensitivity, reduces fat accumulation, and promotes the conversion of white fat into brown-like fat to enhance energy expenditure. It also improves glucose control by suppressing hepatic glucose production and reducing ceramides linked to insulin resistance. Emerging evidence suggests sulforaphane may support exercise recovery by reducing inflammation and muscle soreness.

Collectively, these mechanisms highlight its potential to aid healthy weight regulation and metabolic balance.

Sulforaphane shows promise as a neuroprotective agent through NRF2 activation, which reduces oxidative stress and neuroinflammation. Clinical and preclinical studies suggest benefits for cognitive function, including improvements in working memory, processing speed, and mood. Research also indicates potential supportive roles across a range of neurological and psychiatric conditions such as traumatic brain injury, schizophrenia, neurodegenerative diseases, and neurodevelopmental disorders like autism spectrum disorder.

These overlapping mechanisms highlight sulforaphane’s capacity to support brain health by addressing common pathways of inflammation and oxidative stress.

Every day, the body encounters thousands of toxic chemicals it was never designed to handle alone. Sulforaphane enhances the body’s detoxification capacity by activating the NRF2 pathway, which upregulates phase II enzymes such as glutathione S-transferase and quinone reductase. Clinical studies show this leads to accelerated and sustained excretion of pollutants and carcinogens. Sulforaphane also supports antioxidant defenses and modulates pathways like the glyoxalase system to reduce harmful metabolic byproducts, helping the body defend itself more effectively against toxin-induced stress and damage.

Patients with MTHFR mutations often experience impaired methylation, elevated homocysteine, and reduced detoxification capacity. Research suggests sulforaphane may help address these downstream effects by activating the NRF2 pathway to upregulate detoxification and antioxidant enzymes, as well as by modulating DNA methylation patterns through its influence on DNA methyltransferases. Together, these actions may support healthier methylation balance and improved cellular defenses in individuals with MTHFR variants.

Sulforaphane supports longevity and healthy aging by acting on key epigenetic and cellular pathways. Through NRF2 activation, it enhances antioxidant defenses and reduces oxidative stress, while suppressing NF-κB to lower chronic inflammation. Research also shows sulforaphane can influence gene expression via histone deacetylase (HDAC) inhibition and modulate metabolic signaling pathways such as IGF-1. In addition, it promotes protein homeostasis by activating proteasomes and heat shock proteins, helping maintain cellular resilience over time.

Psoriasis-prone skin is often driven by chronic inflammation and oxidative stress. Research suggests sulforaphane supports skin health by activating the KEAP1–NRF2 pathway to boost antioxidant defenses and by downregulating inflammatory signaling pathways such as NF-κB and STAT3. Preclinical studies have shown this can reduce keratinocyte hyperproliferation and inflammatory cytokine activity, both key drivers of psoriasis. Broc Shot is proud to be the first supplement recognized by the National Psoriasis Foundation for meeting the highest standards for people with psoriasis and sensitive skin.

Sulforaphane supports hormone balance through multiple mechanisms. By activating phase II detoxification enzymes, it promotes the metabolism of estrogen into safer pathways. It also activates NRF2 to strengthen antioxidant defenses, lower inflammation that can exacerbate hormonal symptoms, and help regulate the gut microbiome, a crucial factor in maintaining hormone balance. Emerging evidence suggests these combined effects may be supportive in conditions such as PCOS, menopause, and endometriosis. Unlike DIM or I3C, sulforaphane provides these benefits without concerns about tumor promotion.

Sulforaphane supports gut health and digestion through multiple mechanisms. It helps balance the microbiome by promoting beneficial bacteria and limiting harmful pathogens such as H. pylori. By activating the NRF2 pathway, sulforaphane reduces oxidative stress and inflammation in the gut lining, supporting barrier integrity and tight junction function. Research also suggests sulforaphane enhances detoxification processes in the liver and intestines, contributing to digestive resilience and immune balance.
